This article is from "CNN Money.com"
http://money.cnn.com/2007/06/08/news/pluggedin_Gunther_fishfarms.fortune/index.htm?postversion=2007060810

Summary
U.S. is facing a ‘seafood trade deficit’. Today, U.S. aquaculture is concentrated in lakes, ponds and waters close by the shore. Therefore if they want to eat seafood more or keeping the level of now, they should get aquaculture in ocean water. But it contains various risks. In the meantime, China has become the biggest exporter of farmed fish to the U.S.

Comment
I strongly remembered that the policy is very closely related to the economy when I read this article.

Abe Cabinet approval rating falls to 35.8%

The body from the Japan Times
http://search.japantimes.co.jp/cgi-bin/nn20070603a2.html

The summary
The approval for Prime Minister Shinzo Abe’s Cabinet has decreased to 35.8%, which is the lowest record since he became a prim minister last September. The cause must be the recent suicide of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Minister Toshikatsu Matsuoka having involved in financial scandal. Almost 70% of all respondents think Abe was blamed for and has not taken the responsibility for that case. Abe’s cabinet is about to be driven in a corner.

Bush Calls for Global Goals for Emissions

full text

http://www.nytimes.com/aponline/us/AP-Bush.html?_r=1&hp&oref=slogin

Summary

On Thursday, Bush urged 15 major nations to agree by the end of next year on a global emissions goal for reducing greenhouse gases. He gathered the countries including China, India and major European countries identified as major emitters of greenhouse gases causing global warming.

My opinion

Why the United States try to take an initiative about reducing greenhouses gases, while it is no doubt the United States has refused to ratify the landmark 1997 Kyoto protocol requiring industrialized countries to reduce reducing greenhouse gases. The listed countries contain not only the advanced countries but rapidly growing economies like India and China. I think the United States maybe feels threatened about these developing countries’ catching up, so the U.S. interrupts those countries’ growth to restrain the greenhouses gases emission.

Facing of Abortion in China Is a Young, Unmarried Woman

The article was from "The New York Times"
http://www.nytimes.com/2007/05/13/world/asia/13abortion.html?_r=3&pagewanted=1&hp&oref=slogin

The Summary
In China, an abortion has been associated with married women because of the Chinese governmental reducing of reproductive policy of having one-child. The policy will charge a family for a second child, so people keep only one child. They want to a son from traditional idea so choose to abort a female baby when recognize.
But recently, many unmarried women more have taken abortions. The unmarried women composed of migrant workers, students, prostitutes and so on, are having abortions many times. Because of lacking effort of Government for educating about sex, these women do not know correctly about ‘reproductive health and contraception’ (page1, line26). Moreover, in urban area, the number of women having a sex without knowledge about it is rising. Being single mother, women can’t afford to live so they cannot avoid for multiple abortions. But having taken many abortions is risky for being infertility.
Now many non-profit organizations perform the activities for help young women not have abortions providing right sexual and reproductive information. However, the abortions are taking root in a part of young women. The activities face a difficulty.

My Opinion
An abortion is very sad conduct because it deprives at least a parson of right to live. We should respect any individual life by nature. However, in Chine the abortion is becoming a popular behavior. It is partly because of the country’s policy and partly because of lacking information about sex. More abortions increase, people less feel anything important with paralyzed heart. It is a dreadful phenomenon. I hope the Chinese government finds better policy about reproductive system to let reproduction free from people’s hand.

Pakistan protest leaves 28 dead

The article was from '' The Washington Times"
http://washingtontimes.com/world/20070513-121558-3821r_page2.htm

The Summary
In May 12, 2007, there was a political clash Karachi in Pakistan. The clash between pro-government gunmen and opposition supporters killed at least 28 persons and injured more than 100people. The violence was the worst in two months shaking the government under Gen. Musharraf. It will cause the delay of vote.

My Opinion
I have ever heard the domestic conflicts occupy the majority of today’s wars. The reason for fights is different, for example against race, policies, thinking and so on. In above case, it is the clash of political thinking. I feel it should be extinguished in vague but cannot explain the reason exactly. I should study more to comment above issue.

‘Ubiquitous’ Internet zone to test IT lifestyle

The article was from "The Japan Times"
http://search.japantimes.co.jp/cgi-bin/nb20070513a1.html

The Summary
The Japanese government will set up a special zone next fiscal year to “ubiquitous” internet technology. It is a system allowing everyone and everything to be connected anytime by internet technology inside the area set up. The system will be intended to provide mainly elderly people with services such as medical affaires, preventing car accident, shopping.

My Opinion
To set up the ubiquitous internet zone is very innovative idea and it will lead a society to a better direction. But I think the all connected system is very fragile so if a part is broken, it can influence all and the system itself will stop working. The experts should work hard to manage the future coming unknown risks and not to allow the system stop. If it is overcome, the system will lead people to get better, better life styles.
